Coordination {Day 16}

Our wonderful coordinator Kristy!

Our wonderful coordinator Kristy!

Finding a coordinator for your wedding day is CRUCIAL. I’m not talking wedding planner—although that would have been nice, I did all the planning myself because, well, I’m crazy. But I knew I needed someone who could keep all the volunteers in line and on task and make sure my wedding day went off without a hitch. The choice was easy—I picked my roommate, Kristy, to be our day-of coordinator and she ROCKED it. Kristy is a shift supervisor at Starbucks, and has an unexplainable way of getting people to do exactly what she says. She also expects the unexpected and is always on her toes, making her the PERFECT candidate.

Don’t wait until the last minute to find your coordinator, unless of course, you have an awesome roommate like Kristy who knows you better than anyone else, and is willing to do whatever it takes to make your day perfect. If you can involve your coordinator in the planning process, it will be easier for him/her to execute your wishes on the wedding day when you are tied up. A good coordinator will be able to make all of the decisions for you without you even knowing a decision needed to be made.

My goal was to make an awesome binder full of all the details for the big day, but…you know, we ran out of time. Instead, I followed Kristy to her car on the morning of the wedding and tried to think of things she may need to know {I am embarrassed that I was that unprepared…and yet she still somehow made it perfect!}.

The only question I was asked on our wedding day {other than “do you need any food?” and “Can I get you anything?”} came as I was getting in the elevator after family pictures, right before the ceremony. My two roommates found me and asked about the guest book. I explained that it was a board, with a heart and our initials painted on it, and I instantly saw their faces light up: “we know exactly where that is!” Apparently they had spent about 20 minutes trying to figure out how to hang it above the buffet table, because I forgot to tell them that it was being used in lieu of a traditional guest book. Oops!
